Blencowe Hall is a magnificent Grade I listed 14th-century fortified manor, located just four miles from the edge of the Lake District National Park. Set within The Rowley Estates, a family-run collection of farms and woodlands with deep roots in livestock and forestry, the hall enjoys sweeping views across the Eden Valley and towards the nearby Lakeland fells, making it an ideal retreat for families or groups celebrating a special occasion.
Expertly restored, the hall blends historic grandeur with modern comfort. It boasts original oak panelling and beams, ancient masonry walls and arched doorways, spiral stone staircases, and winding corridors. Highlights include majestic four-poster beds, Juliet balconies, and generous living spaces set between two imposing castellated towers. Outside, guests can explore the formal landscaped gardens and hundreds of acres of surrounding countryside and farmland. In summer, you can even pick your own raspberries from the estate. If visiting over Christmas, a home-grown tree and handmade wreaths from the estate add festive cheer to your stay.
The area offers plenty to discover. Nearby are historic houses and beautiful gardens, while the Lake District itself is a haven for outdoor adventure and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy water sports or wild swimming in its glacial lakes, hike the dramatic peaks, or explore the region’s pretty villages and market towns filled with cosy pubs, artisan eateries, independent shops, and a lively calendar of festivals and country fairs.
