The Rocking Lodge is a quirky wooden cabin situated on a working farm in the tiny hamlet of Scales, close to the village of Threlkeld. Thoughtfully designed with couples in mind, it offers a lovely base for exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District.
Perched on the lower slopes of Blencathra, the farm is home to sheep and beef cattle and has stunning views over the surrounding fells. Inside, the contemporary studio-style living space is fully equipped to ensure a memorable stay. A compact kitchenette makes it easy to prepare light meals and snacks, while a cosy sofa provides the perfect spot to relax with a book or enjoy a film in the evenings.
At the rear of the lodge, a full-size bed promises restful nights, dressed in crisp linens and warm blankets for cooler evenings. A sleek shower room completes the accommodation. For a touch of romance and whimsy, The Rocking Lodge features a unique surprise: at the flick of a switch, the entire cabin gently rocks back and forth.
Outside, a small garden with planters brimming with flowers adding a splash of colour creates a welcoming space. A bistro set and a swing seat for two offer the ideal setting to enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the spectacular views.
Both Scales and Threlkeld are within walking distance, each offering a selection of pubs serving hearty meals and local cask ales. A little further afield, the market town of Keswick has a wide range of shops and restaurants to suit every taste.
