Swinside is a charming lodge situated on a working dairy farm in the village of Lorton in the heart of the Lake District National Park. With wonderful countryside views, it’s ideally placed for a family or couple looking to explore the stunning mountains, valleys, and lakes in the surrounding area.
The lodge has been thoughtfully furnished to provide comfortable accommodation with a bright and airy open-plan living space. The well equipped-kitchen has plenty of storage and a full range of contemporary appliances to ensure everything is at hand for preparing meals, while a dining table has ample room for everyone to gather and enjoy home-cooked meals together.
In the living area, there’s a large corner sofa and patio doors out to the terrace that floods the space with light and frame fantastic views over the farmland and hills beyond. It’s a lovely spot for relaxing in the evening with a favourite film or family board game.
Both bedrooms are designed with a restful night’s sleep in mind with comfortable mattresses and crisp linen. One bedroom benefits from its own en-suite cloakroom, while a sleek shower room with a walk-in shower completes the accommodation.
Outside, the veranda is ideal for enjoying a leisurely al fresco lunch or an evening drink as the sun sets over the fields.
Guests are welcome to explore the farm and meet the cows. There is also a well-stocked rainbow trout fishing lake in the grounds, which guests are free to enjoy. With its delightful panoramic views, it’s also a lovely place for a picnic.
The market town of Keswick is just a short drive away and has plenty to offer visitors at any time of year. Lying at the northern end of Derwentwater, the bustling high street has a good range of independent shops, restaurants, and pubs, and hosts a weekly market. It also has a miniature golf course, excellent parks and gardens, and the famous Theatre by the Lake, close to the boat landings on the shores of Derwentwater and just a five minute walk from the town centre.
