The Stable is a charming barn conversion set on a small working farm on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Gilling West. Original features, including exposed stonework and timber beams, sit effortlessly alongside stylish contemporary décor. Whitewashed walls, wooden floors, carefully chosen prints, and touches of greenery lend the interiors a calm, homely feel.

Guests are welcomed with a generous hamper with homemade cakes and a bottle of wine, ensuring your stay begins in suitably indulgent fashion.
The kitchen is both pretty and practical with soft rose-coloured walls, cream shaker-style cabinetry, butcher’s block worktops. and a traditional Belfast sink. Ample storage and a full range of modern appliances make cooking a pleasure, whether preparing a leisurely breakfast or a cosy evening meal.

Next door, the open-plan living space offers a delightful setting for unwinding. A charming dining table is perfect for intimate suppers, while a beautifully soft leather sofa sits before an electric wood-burner-effect stove, creating a warm and inviting focal point. It’s an ideal place to settle in with a glass of wine, enjoy a film, or simply curl up with a good book.

Upstairs, the bedroom is light and elegant, centred around an iron bedstead dressed in crisp white linen beneath a vaulted, beamed ceiling, while smart checked soft furnishings add a classic country touch. The en-suite bathroom is equally indulgent, with a sleek walk-in shower alongside a contemporary freestanding bath set beneath a skylight, a wonderful spot for a long, restorative soak.

Outside, a sunny patio with a bistro table and chairs provides a peaceful place for morning coffee or an evening nightcap as the sun sets over the surrounding fields. The farm itself is home to a small herd of Belted Galloway cattle, rare-breed Tamworth pigs, and a handful of sheep, that can be seen grazing nearby and adding to the gentle rhythm of rural life.

A short stroll along quiet country lanes leads to Gilling West, where a historic church and two welcoming real-ale pubs serving food await. Nearby Richmond offers a delightful contrast, with cobbled market squares, winding streets, and independent shops alongside excellent restaurants and traditional inns. The town is also home to one of the country’s oldest surviving theatres, hosting a lively programme of performances throughout the year.
